Patios & Walkways in Rome, GA

A patio gives you somewhere to actually sit outside. A walkway gets people from the drive to the door without crossing wet grass or a muddy path.

Tony's builds both, including the excavation, base and grading underneath.

Newly installed paver walkway in tan, beige, and gray tones curving through a narrow residential side yard with mulched beds and a stucco wall

What goes into a patio or walkway

The finished surface is the last step. Before it, the area is excavated, base material is installed and compacted, and elevations are set so water drains away from the house instead of pooling on the surface.

Layout matters as much as construction. A patio sized and placed for how the yard is actually used gets used; one squeezed into a leftover corner does not.

Reasons to add a patio or walkway

  • No level outdoor space to sit or grill
  • A worn dirt path between the drive and door
  • Mud tracked into the house after rain
  • A back yard that needs a defined usable area
  • Connecting a patio, drive, garden or gate
  • Replacing a settled, cracked or uneven surface

What a patio or walkway project may involve

  • Laying out size, shape and elevations on site
  • Excavating and hauling out material
  • Installing and compacting base
  • Setting the surface with proper fall for drainage
  • Edging and finishing the perimeter
  • Grading, sod or bedding around the finished area

Residential and commercial work

Back patios, front walkways, gate and garden paths and side-yard access.

Entry walkways and paved areas for commercial and rental property.

Patios & Walkways questions

Where should a patio go?
Usually off the door people actually use, sized for the furniture or grill you plan to put on it, and placed where drainage works. We walk the yard and talk through it before quoting.
Why do patios settle?
Insufficient base or poor compaction. Getting the base right is what keeps a surface level over time.
Concrete or pavers?
Both work. Concrete gives a continuous surface; pavers give a different look and can be lifted and reset. We will go over what suits the site.
Can you tie a walkway into an existing drive?
Yes. Connecting drives, patios, doors and gates is typical of these projects.
Will drainage be handled?
Yes. Surfaces are set with fall so water leaves the area rather than standing on it or running toward the house.
Do you repair existing patios and walks?
In many cases yes. If a surface has failed because of base problems, rebuilding is often the better value.
